Rev. Dr. Robert L. McClinton III was born and reared in Greenwood, South Carolina. He received his religious upbringing at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. His parents are Deacon Robert H. McClinton Jr. and Lillie Mae McClinton who are now deceased. He also served as Chairman of the Deacon Board at New Broadmouth Baptist Church in Honea Path, South Carolina prior to His call into the ministry.

He attended public schools in Greenwood and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1971. He completed an Associate Degree in Business Administration at Forrest Business College in Anderson, South Carolina in 1973, he earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Lander University in 1978, Masters of Arts Degree in School Administration from Furman University in 1983, and an Education Specialist Degree in School Administration from Clemson University in 1989. He received a Masters of Ministry Degree from Southern Wesleyan University Degree in 2013.

Rev. McClinton served over 31years as an educator in the public schools of South Carolina where he has served as teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal and Assistant Superintendent.

He is currently Pastor of the Old Beaverdam Baptist Church in Newberry, South Carolina. He also serves as the Union Moderator of the St. Vaughnville Association. Present organization affiliations include Past Master or the Due West Masonic Lodge No. 100 Due West, South Carolina, the NAACP, The Building Architect Review Committee in Greenwood, South Carolina, The Greenwood Municipal Federal Credit Union and the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.

He is happily married to Jean McClinton. They have been married for over thirty three years. His motto is "Do all you can, while you can for the Lord."
